"Dead Upon The Water Bed"- Eulogy for Ophelia

Crazed Due To Love

Having a deep affection towards a person can immensely effect your normal personality. As you may know, Ophelia seemed "a bit off" once she had found out that Hamlet has rejected her. In that case, her emotions have gained control of her which allows her to go mentally insane due to the fact that she has nothing else to lose. With her father killed by the same person she has loved, Ophelia takes action by "seeming" calm as ever in most cases. For example, she sings continuously about her dead father which actually makes her appear very demented. Additionally, she happily gives gifts to Gertrude and Claudius, which in reality, is quit touching. Ophelia appearing insane has been caused by a specific source of emotion. That is love!

Being so caught up with your insanity has made you
seem more intimidating and bipolar!

The Fall Of A Loved One

Ophelia had to have gone insane for a particular reason right? Definitely! The culprit? None other than Hamlet himself. The words coming from Hamlet's mouth as he is speaking to Ophelia about a lost feeling has made Ophelia rage her emotions. With what is being said, Ophelia takes her emotions and turns them into an action. An unconditional action that will affect everyone who takes part in the tragic story of Hamlet. That action is suicide. The words of Hamlet have pounded Ophelia into the ground which has made her lose herself. Specifically, to her demise upon a water bed. With Ophelia out of the picture, Hamlet and Laetres finally express their true feelings. The feeling of love. Is it not too late to express love upon the dead? Of course not! Love may even exist during the afterlife!

Can't it either be Hamlet or Laetres who is TRULY
in love with Ophelia?

Eulogy In Light

Even though Ophelia was a psychotic psychopath, I honor her for loving someone who may not have loved her back. I am not saying that Hamlet did not love Ophelia at one point, but he did reject her before her suicide. That rejection has caused Ophelia to have a meeting with the devil due to religious purposes. Before her mental breakdown, Ophelia has been adored by many throughout the Kingdom. Ophelia's luscious personality has lead her to become popular among many people. Even with her dead, she is still loved by the person who was responsible for her suicide. The realization of the suicide has tapped into Hamlet's lost love reserves. In addition, Laetres has joined in on the party due to his extraordinary passion towards Ophelia. With her fate already sealed up, Ophelia did not deserve to die at such a young age with such a devastating mindset. Hopefully, Ophelia's unforgettable smiles will shed light upon the people who mourn her death. Hamlet's love best be the most powerful kind of love there is. After all Ophelia has been through, she does not deserve such cruelty she has faced with her dead.
